It was bound to happen. Several Supreme Court justices are approaching 80, and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg is 82. So the passing of a Supreme Court Justice shouldn't come as a shock, but it did.
President Reagan nominated/appointed THREE justices - one late in his second term, Justice Anthony Kennedy. GHW Bush nominated/appointed one; Bill Clinton, two; GW Bush, two; and President Obama, two - so far.
Justice Sacalia's passing had not even been announced one hour prior to the republican obstructionists announcing that they would NOT confirm any of President Obama's nominees to fill the vacancy left by Scalia.
What does a 4-4 split mean to us? What does it mean to "cases in waiting"?
Has anything like this happened before?
Do YOU think that President Obama should nominate someone to the SCOTUS, and expect a senate vote on his nominee?
Do you think the next president should nominate someone to fill the vacancy? Will it be Hillary? Bernie? Trump? Cruz?
Join me tonight at 11:00, as I open my phone lines for your questions and comments concerning this series of events.
