The most talked about race was the State Senate race for the 62nd Senate District presently occupied by long time Republican Senator George Maziarz. Senator Maziarz is retiring.
North Tonawanda Mayor Rob Ortt and Niagara Falls School Board member Johnny Destino were the two more prominent candidates. Mayor Ortt won with a 2-1 margin.
